Bosnian Pyramid Status Report for the Week of 20.08.2006
With Semir Osmanagich, the president of the foundation and its biggest booster, back in America tending to personal and business affairs this week, the flow of visiting dignitaries and businessmen has slowed substantially. While not as exciting for web reporters, this decrease in activity allows a more focused and unified approach to the work ahead.

Work in Bosnian Valley of Pyramids continue

So the work this week has gone ahead better than expected. The week in review: On the Pyramid of the Moon, trench B2 has been extended to the south, and fragments of sandstone plates have been found. Trench 7 was expanded along the N-S and E-W axis, and sandstone blocks were found, 10 cm thick. In this trench, section B was also extended 104 cm into the hill. Trench 8, section A was extended in a south-east direction, removing layers of clay and sandstone. In excavations in the north of the square, plates of sandstone were found. In trench 15, the grounds were examined for excavation, and workers on the field reported a smell of ammonia being released from the hill. Trench 16 went on hiatus Friday, after initial investigations failed to produce significant interest.

Trench 18 on the top of the plateau has been continually excavated, even with the demining team from the MAC working in the area. The excavation report reveals the highlights of the inquiry: “Under three layers of stone, we can see a 7 cm layer of clay, a 17 cm layer of slate, then another layer of clay 29 cm thick. After these, we again arrived at well-shaped stone blocks between which there’s no connective material, [each] 17 cm thick, 49 cm and 31 cm wide. Taking one block, we noticed a 2-3 cm layer of clay, under which are again flat-surfaced stone blocks.”

The traffic did not come to a complete stop this weekend, despite Mr. Osmanagic’s absence. On Friday, August 18, a large group comprised of 150 members of neighborhood groups Mjesna Gracanica and Mjesna Zajednica Petrovo, and a contingent from the Italian province of Padova, the Perche No organization, toured the pyramids under the guidance of organizer Nihada Nuhanovic and officials of the foundation.

On Saturday, August 19, 8 people from the Bled School of Management came to visit... 50 from the neighborhood group Slavinovici and the women’s group Udruzene Xena arrived and took the tour... This sunny day also welcomed a student’s group of 37 children from Kakanj.

Today, August 20, a delegation from the Islamic Cultural Center in Meinheim came under the supervision of Hodic Kemal to see the progress of this great cultural monument... 40 members of the women’s group 21 Vijek from Doboj-Jug also took a tour of the premises.
